Should I be concerned if my garage door is noisy?
There could be a number of reasons why your garage door is becoming noisy. Worn out springs are the most common cause. Sometimes all you need to do is apply a lubricant to all the moving metal parts to solve this issue, but if the noise persists, you should get your door checked by a professional.
Can I use my old garage door opener with my new door?
In some cases the answer would be yes. This, of course, will depend on how old your opener is and whether or not it's capable of generating enough horsepower. Newer door opener models have more safety features than older ones and some of these features have become a legal requirements with many building regulatory authorities, so be sure to take this into consideration as well. Many modern units also offer smartphone connectivity, which is an excellent benefit to have and may be worth getting an upgrade all on its own.
Can a steel garage door be painted?
A steel garage door can definitely be painted. Over time, your garage door will get its fair share of bumps and scratches. This can result in rust being able to develop more easily, so it is a good idea to check your door annually and to cover scratches with a rust inhibitor before painting over them with a quality latex paint.
